Re: BERLIN passenger ship NDL 1925
You will notice on the stamp (Canada SG MS1971) there is an oval immigration stamp of Halifax with the date August 12 1951. At that date I do not think that the liner Berlin would have been in Halifax. From the description of the liner you will notice that in 1946 she was assigned to the USSR and wa...

Re: Arandora Star
I have the stamp, part of a sheet of six, in my Cunard collection but if on the internet you type Arandora Star Liberia 2000 you will find a seller at $7.95. I suppose that postage will have to be added. Hope that helps.

Re: Queen Elizabeth 2010
<t>The stamp showing a ship issued by Guernsey to celebrate the Queens Jubilee shows QE2 and not the new Queen Elizabeth. On the sheet of ten stamps of the 47p value the following wording is shown on the side .... "Also pictured is the QE2 ship which the Queen offcvially launched the following year ...

Re: Great Britain Smiler Issue of 2010
It has been suggested that the ship shown on the smiler issue is the Queen Mary and I am inclined to agree.

Re: Vistafjord
The Vistafjord also appears as a silhouette on Grenada 1976 SG MS840 I believe it also appears on and Aerogram of 1992 from St Lucia but I have not seen it. The Vistafjord appears as Caronia on Ascension 2004 SG912 Isle of Man 2000 SG 901 and as Saga Ruby Gibraltar 2006 SG 1181 and MS 1183 Stewart W...

Central African Republic and QE2
In the ATA Handbook 156 there is mention that in 1997 Central African Republuc issued a stamp 175fr Scott number 1187d showing the liner QE2. I believe it was issued marking the handover of Honk Kong to China. I have not seen the stamp and would be interested to see the design. Also in about 2003 it...

Re: Athenia
Re whether there is a stamp showing Athenia it is worth mentioning Grenada 1990 SG MS 2119 The MS shows U 30 which sank the Athenia. In the background is a liner. Some doubt has been expressed if the ship shown in the background of the miniature sheet is a true likeness of the Athenia. The Athenia h...

Ascania (Isle of Man 2011 Genealogy Issue)
You may be interested to know that the ship depicted on one of the 67p stamps SG 1645 is Cunard's Ascania. I have had that checked out with the designer of the stamp and the Isle of Man Philatelic Bureau. Ascania was the fifth of Cunard's six A liners. Although she was launched late in 1923, her com...

Re: Concord (emigrant ship)
There is an interesting follow up to the stamps showing the ship Concord which involves Samuel Cunard the founder of Cunard Line and Charles Pete Conrad the astronaut of Apollo 12 who walked on the moon in 1969. The story of the Cunards in America begins with the bold journey of thirteen families fr...

Sea Goddess I and II are no longer operated by Cunard Line. In 1998 when Cunard was acquired by Carnival Corporation they were transferred to Carnival's luxury cruse line Seabourn and marketed as Seabourn Goddess I and II On 1 September 2001 it was announced that the Seabourn Goddesses had been sold...

Re: Carpathia (Cunard Line)
You will note that across the foot of the stamp there is Morse Code which reads CQD CQD SOS SOS CQD SOS Unfortunately the designer of the stamp translated this wrongly as CDQ CDQ SOS SOS CDQ SOS ‘CQD’ was standardised as a maritime distress call by the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company in 1904. ‘CQ...

Great Britain Smiler Issue of 2010
On one of the stamps there is a ship which certainly looks as if she has a Cunard red and black funnel. Comparing the stamp with various Cunard ships I wonder if it shows the second Mauretania of 1939.

Re: BRIDGETOWN PORT cruise liners.
The SG number is 1158 and 1158a. In the SG1158 version the bows of three of the ships are pointing to the right and this was corrected in the SG1158a version where the bows of three of the ships are pointing correctly to the left.

Re: MARINULA tanker
I think the SG number is 854 and the Scott number 549. I note from the illustration that the stamp is part of a miniature sheet. Am I correct? I note too that the liner Queen Elizabeth 2 is part of the design. I would love to obtain the stamp sheet to add it to my Cunard Ships on Stamps Collection! ...
