Faemund II

Motor vessel ex steamer, operator AS Faemund Roros.
Built 1905 Orens Versted, Trondheim. 81 Gt 78.5' x 17.1'
75 passengers Route Lake Femund: SonderVika- Elga (daily), Femundsenden (2 or 3 days a week. Operating on a little known lake on the high fells near the Swedish border,catering mainly for tourists, hikers and even canoeist.
When she was built she was transported to Roros by rail, and then to the lake by horses. A good sea boat on a lake that can be quite rough at times and until some 15 years ago was the only transport for the isolated communities on the lake shore.
In the early years she was also used as a tug.
In 1959 the steam engine was replaced by a 160hp Volvo Penta diesel.
In 1980 a major change In appearance occurred with the building of a saloon on the main deck. For the handful of local Inhabitants she Is the only link with civilisation other than four-wheel drive vehicles.
