MIR tall ship

Built as a training vessel under yard No B810/02 by Gdanska Lenina, Gdansk, Poland for the Russian Government.
31 March 1987 launched as the MIR, meaning Peace. She has five sisters. The MIR was the third ship of the series.
Tonnage 2.256 grt, 677 net, displacement 2,824 tons. Dim. 109.40 x 14.00 x 8.40m.
Full-rigged, sail area 2771 square meter.
Accommodation for 55 crew and 144 cadets.
Powered by 2 Cegielski Sulzer diesel engines, 1.139 bhp., speed 11.5 knots.
30 November 1987 commissioned.

After completed managed by the Admiral Makarov State Maritime Academy, Saint Petersburg, Russia. The oldest higher educational institution in Russia, founded in 1876, which prepares seamen for the merchant marine fleet of Russia.
The MIR was designed by Zygmunt Choren.

In the face of negative economic conditions, she carries now also paying guests.
1989 She participated in Sail Hamburg and in 1990 in Sail Bremerhaven.
1992 Won the Grand Columbus race as the fastest sailing ship in the world.
1996 She won the Baltic Sail race.
2000 She was a participant of the Sail 2000 Amsterdam.
2005 Was she at the Trafalgar 200 International Fleet Review at the Solent by Portsmouth.

It can now also be chartered during the winter season.
