M TYPE (MALYUTKA) submarine VI-BIS

Type M (Malyutka) submarine VI-BIS.
It was a design of an inshore coast defence submarine from the early 30’s, the VI-BIS was built in six sections, and the class could be mass-produced when the sections were built inland, transported by boat or train to a shipyard for assembly.
Of the VI-BIS class were 19 boats built, with a length of 37.50m, surfaced displacement 161 tons, submerged 202 tons.
Diesel electric powered 685 hp surfaced, 240 hp. submerged, speed 13.1/7.4 knots.
Range 800 miles.
Armament 2 torpedo tubes.
Crew 18.

Four main series of the M class were built of which the VI-BIS was one of the batch II.
During the Second World War fighting in all theatres of war.
