ALENTEJENSE ferry

The ship was identified by Dr. Romano Camera in Watercraft Philately 36/49, without any details.

Built as a ferry by Estaleiros Navais de Viana do Castelo, Portugal, for Soflusa, Lisbon
Launched as ALENTEJENSE.
Tonnage 355 gross, dim. 38.54 x 8.15 x 2.56m., draught 1.6m.
Powered by one Sulzer diesel engine, 650 hp.
Accommodation for 462 passengers.
1957 Completed, with homeport Lisbon.

First used till 1983 on the service from Lisbon to Montije on the River Tagus.
After 1983 used in the service between Cais do Sodré to Cacilhas.
1991 Engine replaced by a MTU diesel engine, 495 hp., speed 10km/hr.
2008 In the service between Cais de Sodré to Belem.
2010 In service. Managed by Transtejo e a Soflusa. IMO NO. 8966746.
Now given accommodation for 375 passengers and 10 cars.

Portugal 1989 250e sgMS2142, scott ? (Stanley Gibbons Collect Ships on stamps list this vessel as CACILHEIRO.)
