TYPHOON tug

Built as an anchor handling/tug under yard No 907 by Van der Giessen de Noord for Wijsmuller B,V, Ijmuiden, Netherlands.
08 May 1976 launched as the TYPHOON she was a sister of the TEMPEST.
Tonnage 1,199 grt, 61 net, 1,165 dwt., dim.47.81 x 13.85 x 7.01m., draught 6.4m., length bpp 42.0m.
Powered by two 6-cyl Stork-Werkspoor diesels, 8.500 bhp., twin shafts speed 16 knots.
Bunker capacity 832m³
Bollard pull 120 tons.
September 1976 completed.

After delivery managed by Wijsmuller Salvage B.V.
1988 Under Vanuatu flag and registry, homeport Port Vila.
1991 To Smitwijs Towage C.V., a joint venture between Wijsmuller Holding and Smit International at Rotterdam.
1999 Renamed in SMITWIJS TYPHOON.
30 November 2005 sold to International Transport Contractors B.V. (ITC), Heemstede, Netherlands, renamed again in TYPHOON.
2010 As given by http://www.equasis Imo No 7515365, owned by Typhoon International BV, Heemstede, under Dutch flag and registry, homeport Amsterdam.
Tonnage 1,368 grt, 410 net, 1.165 dwt.

23 August 2012 sold to Gudri Shipping & Trading Corp., Dubai and renamed in the Lekhaven, Rotterdam in GUDRI, managed by Jampur International FZE, Dubai, under Panama flag and registry.
24 December 2012 sailed from Rotterdam.
03 November 2013 she left the Bonny River, Nigeria towing the tanker SYMPHONY the same day the tanker grounded in the Bonny Channel, by trying to free her the GUDRI capsized and sank. The 15 men crew of the GUDRI were rescued by the Nigerian patrol boat MAP 2.
The tanker was later refloated and towed to Alang for scrapping were she arrived and beached on 19 May 2014.
