Al Munassir

AL MUNASSIR is a landing craft. Her pennant number is L1. Her keel was laid on 4th July 1977 by Brooke Marine at Lowestoft (Great Britain).
There she was launched on 25th May 1978 and commissioned on 31st January 1979 by the Navy of Oman. She has 2 Mirrlees Blackstone disels of 2,440 bhp and her speed is 12 knots. Her dimensions are: 84.1m x 14.9m x 2.3m (draught). Her displacement is 2,000 tons and her armament consists of 1 gun of 76mm and 2 of 20mm. Her crew consists of 45 officers and men. She can carry 188 troops + 8 big tanks (550 tons in total). She also has a helideck and 2 Rotork landing craft. Log Book September 1985

1992 She is reported as maintained in reserve and used as a static training ship, with
armament removed.
21 April 2003 was she scuttled by the Royal Oman Navy off the coast of Oman to create an artificial reef.
