WANDERER. Peel Lugger Built circa 1915 at Peel Isle of Man. 31Gt. 2lNt L53'. B15'3". Dr7'8". Aux diesel. Ketch rig. Wooden hull. She was only vessel in sight when German U‑boat sank RMS LUSITANIA off west coast of Ireland 7 May 1815. She picked up 160 survivors, taking 110 on board, towing remainder in lifeboat and on a raft until they could be transferred to other vessels. Renamed ERINS HOPE and fitted with motor. Was still fishing in Irish waters in 1931. The Merchant Naval List of 1931 gives ships details for ERINS HOPE, as above but does not mention her previous name.

Built as a wooden lugger by Henry Thomas Graves, Peel, Isle of Man for Charles Morrison?, Peel.
Launched as WANDERER
Tonnage 31 gross, 28 register tonnage, dim. 53 x 15.3 x 7.8ft.
Two masts. Ketch rigged.
1881 Completed.
Charles Morrinson was the owner when she took part in the rescue of the passengers and crew of the LUSITANIA, but if he was the owner when built? The Peel Shipping Registry does not give the owners name when built.
22 March 1918 sold to Denis Minihane, Skibereen, Co Cork, Ireland and renamed ERIN’S HOPE.
She was later fitted out with an engine.
1926 Lost in a cove when at anchor during a hurricane force storm.
