BALSA RIO PALENA

Post by aukepalmhof » Wed Jan 05, 2011 8:05 pm

The inscription on the stamp gives; “Balsa Rio Palena” Balsa translated means in English raft, the ferry depict on this stamp loosely applied to a float or raft constructed from logs and drums hold together by a framework.
The raft on the stamp is used as a ferry on Rio Palena in Northern Patagonia, Chile.
Noting so far is known on the details of the raft, or were she was crossing the river, more info welcome.

Palena River is not a long river only 6 km and her source is near the Argentinean border and she flows in the Pacific Ocean.
