On 10 March 1814 the fleet under command of Admiral Brown attacked the Spanish fleet under command of Jacinto de Romarate in the Battle of Martin Garcia.
The NANCY due to her slow sailing and manoeuvrability took not much part in the battle, also when she took part in the Battle of Buceo.
Then she took part in the blockade of Montevideo until the city surrendered on 23 June 1814.

The plan was that the captured Spanish frigate MERCURIO after the surrender of Montevideo, to be send to Spain with the captive Gaspar de Vigodet and his staff, but Brown decided that the MERCURIO a much better warship was than the NANCY en Vigodet and his staff were embarked on the NANCY, who was crewed by voluntary Spanish sailors under command of lieutenant Manuel Clemente y Miro, she weighed anchor 29 October 1814 and arrived in the Canary Islands in December.
