Malta issued in August 2011 a set of stamps entitled “Maritime Malta” depicting four vessels sailing under Malta flag and registry. The vessels depict are the TA’ PINU, JEAN DE LA VALETTA, Patrol Boat P23 and SPINOLA.

Built as a passenger/ro-ro ferry under yard No 178 by the Malta Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., Valetta for Gozo Ferries, Malta.
Launched as the TA’PINU named after the Basilica of Ta’Pinu, the famous place of pilgrimage for Maltese and Gozitans which, it is claimed, has been the scene of innumerable miracles and acts of grace.
Tonnage 4,893 grt, 1,468 net, 1.064 dwt., dim. 85.2 x 18.03 x 6.2m, length bpp. 80.6m, draught 4m.
Powered by four 6-cyl. Ulstein-Bergen diesel engines, 7,107 hp (5,300 kW), twin shafts, speed 13.5 knots.
Accommodation for 800 passengers and 72 cars.
January 2000 delivered to owners.

She makes all years round trips between Mgarr Harbour on Gozo and Cirkewwa, Malta.
