Built as a catamaran passenger/ro-ro ferry under yard No 248 by Austal, Fremantle, Australia for Virtu Fast Ferries, Malta.
April 2009 ordered.
April 2010 launched as the JEAN DE LA VALETTE named after Jean Parisot de la Valetta (1494? – 1568).
Tonnage 8,045 grt, 2,414 net, 850 dwt. Dim. 106.5 x 23.8 x 9.4m., length bpp. 92.4m., draught 3.85m.
Powered by four MTU 20V 8000 M71L diesel engines, each 12,203 hp, (9,100 kW), connected to 4 Rolls-Royce Kamewa 125SIII waterjets, service speed 38.5 mile. Range 3,100 mile.
Passengers 800.
Vehicles 156 cars. Or 45 cars and 342 truck lane meters.
Crew 24.
August 2010 delivered.

She made her delivery voyage to Malta under her own power.
Managed by Virtu Ferries.
Used in the fast service between Valetta and Pozzallo & Catania, Sicily.
2011 In service. IMO No 9559743.
