Till so far two ships on this stamp has been identified, the lifeboat ROSA WOODD & PHYLLIS LUNN she is the small vessel very near to the beach on the right of the stamp. The other ship under sail and beached is the sailing barge BARBARA JEAN. B.E.F. Ships before, at and after Dunkirk has on page 33 a photo of her in the same position as on the stamp.

Built as a steel barge by Aldous Ltd., Brightlingsea for R & W Paul, Ipswich both in the U.K.
Launched as the BARBARA JEAN.
Tonnage 144 grt, 119 net, dim. 93.0 x 22.2 x 7.7ft.
1925 Completed.

She was one of the largest sailing barges used on the River Thames.
She was loaded with stores and ammunition and towed by the tug FAIRPLAY ONE to Dunkirk on 31 May 1940.
01 June after arrival there was beached blown up and abandoned.
