AL MANAMA RBNS (FPBGH50)

For the 25th jubilee of the armed forces a set of stamps were issued in 1993 by Bahrain on which two depict navy vessels, the 80 fils depict a ship of the FBP 62-001 type while the 150 fils depict the AHMED AL FATEH, on the background of the 50 fils are also some ships depict but so small that to find out which ship is depict will be almost impossible.

Of the FBP 62-100 two units were built the AL MANAMA (FPBGH50) and AL MUHARRAG (FPBGH 51) It are small helicopter corvettes.
Both were built by the Friedrich Lürssen yard in Vegesack, Germany for the Bahrain Royal Navy.
Displacement 632 tons, full load, dim. 62.95 x 9.3 x 2.6m. (draught).
Powered by four MTU 20V 538 TB93 diesel engines, 18,940 hp., four shafts, speed 34.7 knots.
Range by a speed of 16 knots, 4,600 mile.
Armament: 4 MM40 Exocet SSM missiles. 1 – 76mm OTO DP gun, 2 - 40mm Breda AA gun. 2 - 20mm Oerlikon AA guns.
Fitted out to carry one helicopter with helicopter deck and hangar aft.
Crew 43.
December 1987 and February 1988 commissioned.

2011 In service by the Bahrain Royal Navy. Home port Mina Sulman.
