Post by aukepalmhof » Fri Jan 20, 2012 11:22 pm

The KÖR KÖR used in the Marshall Islands and north-western Pacific is a small canoe used mainly in lagoons. In some areas, designated a canoe without sails, while those travelling between lagoons have a sail.
Solid ends rake up before being truncated.
Dugout keel piece to which planking is lashed with sennit. Bottom carves fore-and-aft.
The smaller canoes have a large proportion of dugout to planking.

Outrigger side of the hull rounded; lee side flat. A counter balancing platform extends beyond the lee side on those that sail.
Sail set to a strongly forward raking mast shrouds lashed to the outrigger booms.
Sets a triangular sail with the apex tacked to the bow.
Small canoed paddled.
Length of sailing canoe ca. 6 metre.
