Saint George 1690

Post by Anatol » Sun Apr 08, 2012 7:56 am

On the AREA of the SMALL SHEET(MS) depicted war ship English "St. George" 1690.
Three-deck ship with sails on three masts: the main-and fore-mast with three sails lines each, and mizzen-mast, with a Latin sail, on which was attached a square sail stretched between two yards (one upstairs, the other at the bottom).Yards of the spritsail course and spritsail topsail tied with them with no visible sails on the bowsprit. Main and foremast were composite, assembled from several sections and fastened together by means of clearly visible joints and tires. Note that the topsails well above the size of the lower sails, a typical feature of the sails of the time. The design of the underwater hull was fairly well established, but as soon as the water rose a huge transom stern with three stacked galleries, go to the short side galleries. All this was richly decorated with gilded figures and fanciful ornaments and married with three lights that indicate flagship. The artillery was divided into three decks: twenty-eight 32f guns on the lower deck, fourteen 24f guns on the top and eighteen guns plus twenty-six guns of smaller caliber on the main deck and quarterdeck. Reproduced by the model stored in the UK. Dimensions: length of 195.53 feet (59.6 m), the width of the deck 38.71 ft. (11.8 m), draft 17.71 ft (5.4 m), the displacement of 1296 tons, a team of 657 people.
