Built in 1907 by Burmeister & Wain's Maskin & Skibsbyggeri, Copenhagen, #256 as cargoship ST. JAN for Det Ostasiatiske Kompagni A/S, Copenhagen, Gt:2508, Nt:1597, Dw:3300, L:98,90m. B:12,40m. Depth:5,84m. B&W 3 cyl. triple expansion engine:1450 ihp. 11 kn.
1913 sold to Koninklijke West Indische Maildienst, Amsterdam as NICKERIE, 1932 to Messina Ignazio & Cie., Genova as RISVEGLIO, 1935 to Palestine Maritime Lloyd Ltd., Haifa as HAR ZION.
On the 31st August 1940 she was on route from Liverpool to Savannah, in Convoy OB-205 as a straggler and carrying a cargo of 1,000 cases of spirits and 120 tons of fertiliser she was torpedoed by German submarine U-38 and sunk, 36 crew lost. 1 crew survived.
