JAPANESE FISHING BOATS IN MARSHALLESE WATERS

Post by aukepalmhof » Mon Jul 16, 2012 8:49 pm

The fishing boats depict on this stamp are Japanese and follows the huge schools of tuna and other fish into Marshall waters. Catchers boats often with mixed Marshallese and Japanese crews, work in teams spreading their nets over a wide area, then converging to gather their catch. The catch is then taken to the mother ship, which often serves as a floating cannery. On such ships, the tuna is cleaned, processed, canned, labelled and boxed.
