METALLURG ANOSOV

From Mr. Gennadiy Sitnikov I received that on the 60c stamp issued by the Marshall Islands is depict the USS BARRY (DD-933) and the Russian cargo vessel METALLURG ANOSOV.

Built as a fast turbine driven cargo vessel under yard No 567 by Khersonskiy Shipyard in Kherson for the Russian Government.
28 April 1961 keel laid down.
July 1962 launched as the METALLURG ANOSOV, named after the Russian metallurgist Pavel Anosov (1797-1851)
Tonnage 11,521 grt, 6,355 net, 16,216 dwt. Dim. 169.9 x 21.8 m, length bpp 158.8m
Powered by two steam turbines manufactured by Kirov Works., Leningrad, 13,000 shp, geared to one shaft, speed 19 knots.
29 September 1962 completed.

It must be on her maiden voyage that she was used in the Cuba missile crisis.
1986 Sold and renamed ANOSOV, under the flag and registry of the Cayman Islands, with homeport George Town she made her last voyage to the scrapyard in Qinhuangdao, China where she arrived on 22 May 1986 for scrapping.
