Built as an X-bow seismic exploration vessel under yard No 70 by Drydocks World in Dubai for Polarcus 4 LTD, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
22 February 2009 keel laid down.
Launched as the POLARCUS SELMA.
Tonnage 4,711 grt, 1,414 nrt, 2,250 dwt., dim. 84.2 x 17 x 6.7m. (draught), length bpp. 80.8m.
Powered by 4 Wärtsilä diesel engines each 4,100 hp (3,060 kW), twin shafts, speed 17 knots.
Three bow thrusters.
Accommodation for 22 crew.
Ice class A1.
04 August 2011 completed and on 08 August 2011 delivered to owners, under Bahamas flag and registry.
She was the last of six existing vessel built after a design of the Norway company Ulstein.

She was the same month bare-boat chartered for five years by the Russian SCF Novoship JSC (Sovcomflot) in Novorossiysk, Russia.
16 September 2011 she was officially renamed in Sochi by the Russian President Vladimir Putin in VYACHESLAV TIKHONOV, the Russian flag was raised and she was registered under Russian flag.
Named after a well know Russian actor Vyacheslav Tikhonov.
Crew Russian.
After she was renamed she commenced working under contract with seismic-exploration work for the Tuapse Trough Project in the Black Sea on behalf of OAK NK Rosneft and ExxonMobil.

2013 In service same name and owners, under Russian registry IMO No 9538115
