AJAX. Battleship. Built at Scotts Yard, Greenock. Launched 21 March 1912. Laid down 27 February 1911. Built for Royal Navy L597'6" x 89' x 28'8" mean (182.1 x 27 . x 8 7 m) 23,000tn, 25,700 (dl) Quadruple-screw Parsons Steam turbines, 31,000 shp Speed 21. 7kn. Armament Ten 13.5in (343 mm)/45. Sixteen 4in (102mm)/50, four 3pdr (47 mm) guns Three 21in (533 mm) TT . Complement: 782. (Sisters AUDACIOUS 1912, CENTURION 1911 and KING GEORGE V 1911 (ex ROYAL GEORGE) Commissioned as part of 2nd Battle Squadron in October 1913. Sailed with the Grand Fleet in August 1914. Took part in the Battle of Jutland 31 May 1916. In the Mediterranean in 1918. Fitted to carry aircraft in 1918. Supported White Russians 1919 in Black Sea. Left Mediterranean 1924 when she returned to payoff into reserve at the Nore. Sold for breaking up Nov. 1926 Rosyth - Delandre Label. NC (LB 13/422)
