Civetta 1829

CIVETTA. Steamship. Builder unknown. Launched 1829 for Joseph Ressel. L17'5". B3'9". Dr1'6". 48Gt. Single screw, steam. 2 masts. First screw propelled ship to be built. Only underwater portion on stern and screw shown on stamp, together with a portrait of Ressel the inventor of the screw propeller

Slovenia in 2002 issued a stamp SG 567 showing Ressell's propellor with a ship in the top corner which may well be a representation of the Civetta of 1829.
