KARL MARX. River boat. Built by VEB Matthias-Thesen-Werft, Wismar for Russian Govt. 5000Gt. L315'. B49'. Dr?'. Three diesel engines. 4000bhp. 3 screws. 369 pass 3 classes. One of 30-40 river vessels of the 'Chkalov' Class. Similar ships (on stamps) are CHKALOV. LENIN. JOSEF STALIN - Russia 1960.

Built as an inland passenger ship under yard no 113 by VEB Mathias-Thesen-Werft Wismar at Wismar, East Germany for the Russian Government.
1957 Launched as the KARL MARX. One of the Rodina Class (Project 588-317) Of this class 49 have been built.
Displacement 1,506 ton, dim. 95.8 x 14.3 x 2.4m. (draught).
Powered diesel electric by three 6NVD48U diesel engines, 1,203 hp. (885 kW), three shafts, speed 12.8 knots (24km/h)
Passenger accommodation for 369 passengers in 3 classes.

The KARL MARX is a river cruise ship that was built in 1957 in the GDR at the VEB Mathias Thesen shipyard Wismar in Wismar as a ship of the series II 588-317 and one of the Rodina - Class (project 588) / (project 588-317). The German designation is "BiFa Type A" (Type A Inland Navigation Ship). It bears the name of the most influential theorist of socialisme and communisme Karl Marx .
Description
The river cruise ship under yard number 113 with three passenger decks was built in 1957 in the GDR for the Soviet Union . It belongs to a series of 49 ships of the type Rodina produced from 1954 to 1961, which ran in two mutually differing series from the slipway. The first series of 11 ships of the Chkalov class and since 1957 the second series of 38 ships of the Cosmonaut-Gagarin class.
The ship has a diesel electric drive with three main engines. The ship is operated by the company OOO Infoflot on the routes Moscow - Saint Petersburg , Saint Petersburg - Valaam , Nizhny Novgorod - Volgograd , Volgograd - Kazan , Nizhny Novgorod - Moscow , Moscow - Kazan . The captain (as of 2011) of the KARL MARX is Vladimir Mikhaylovich Saweliev (rus. Савельев Владимир Михайлович).
Features
All cabins are equipped with WC, shower and wash-bowls, refrigerator, TV with satellite TV and central air conditioning. There are two restaurants each for 60 and 90 persons and two bars on the ship. After the conversion 2007/2008, the number of passengers was significantly reduced. She can now accommodate 148 passengers.
2017 Stil in service, same name and owners.
