HONOLULU USS. Cruiser. Brooklyn Class. Pennant No. CL48. Built by New York Shipbuilding. Laid down 10th September 1935. Launched 28th August 1937. Completed on 7th September 1938. 9650tn. L600'wl. 608'3"oa. 861'9". Dr19'6". 4 shaft geared turbines. 100000shp. 34kn. Armament Fifteen 6". Eight 5". Sixteen 40mmAA. Twenty-four 20mmAA guns.4 aircraft. Complement 1300. She was severely damaged by bombs on the 7th December 1941 at Pearl Harbour. Again badly damaged by an aircraft torpedo off Leyte on 20th October 1944. At a refit her width was increased to 69.5' with the addition of anti-torpedo equipment. Scrapped at Baltimore in 1960 - Sierre Leone 1992. Souv. Sheet. Marshall Is. 1997. 20c. SG899 (P G Longhurst.
