TASKENT

Post by aukepalmhof » Fri Feb 14, 2014 8:02 pm

From Mr. Gennadiy Sitnikov I got the information that the vessel in the margin is identified as the Turkish bulker TASKENT, who visited the port of Odessa in October 2011..

Built as a Panamax bulker under yard No 018 by Turkiye Gemi, Pendik, Turkey for Deniz Nakliyati Tas, Istanbul, Turkey.
16 October 1992 keel laid down.
23 April 1995 launched as the TASKENT.
Tonnage 43,286 grt,24,874 nrt, 75,839 det., dim. 250.0 x 32.25 x 19.3m, length bpp. 235.0m.
Powered by one 5-cyl 5 RTA76 oil engine manufactured by T.G.S. Pendik Tersanesi.
She was fitted out by Tuzla Tersanecilik Ve Turizm A.S. under yard No 02.
08 May 2003 completed. (I wonder what has happened between launching and completing when the time span is 8 years.) Under Turkish flag, homeport Istanbul. IMO No 8513144.

When the prospect for the Panamax bulkers declined, and her high fuel consumption and the scrap price was quit good the decision was made by the owner that after 10 years in service she was sold for scrap for USA$ 400 per ton.
19 February 2013 she arrived by the scrapyard in China for scrapping. She has the dubious distinction of being the first Panamax built after 2000 to be scrapped.
