KOOKABURRA I (KA 11)

The sail no on this yacht on the stamp is KA 11 which belong to the KOOKABURRA I (KA 11).
KOOKABURRA I (KA II), built as a 12-metre yacht by Parry Boat Builders, Perth, Australia for the Taskforce ’87 America Cup Defence Ltd., representing the Royal Perth Yacht Club.
The yacht was designed by Ian Murray & John Swarbrick.
February 1985 launched as the KOOKABURRA I (KA 11), at the Taskforce Dock Facility, Mews Road, Fremantle.
Displacement 24.5 ton, dim. 20.22 x 3.65 x 2.66m. (draught), length on waterline 13.41m.

Primarily used as a prototype and a test-bed for various keel configurations and as contender of the two other yachts KOOKABURRA II and KOOKABURRA III.
She did not compete in the 1987 America’s Cup defender elimination series.
1993 Sold to Kookaburra Challenge Pty. Ltd., Newport, NSW Australia. Not renamed.
January 1996 sold to Michael Smith, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Not renamed.
February 1996 sold to Kookaburra Syndicate (Michael Smith), Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Not renamed.
2014 Still at Melbourne and used there for racing and education in sailing.
