Built in 1982-'84 by Verolme Dockyard, Cork for the Irish Navy.
Helicopter Patrol Vessel, displacement:1760/1910 tons, Loa:84,80m. B:12m. Draught:4,30m. 2 Ruston 12RKC diesels:6800 hp. 2 shafts, 18 kn. range:7000 nm. @ 15 kn. crew:85 (6 officers) armament:1-57 mm. Bofors, 2-20 mm. Rheinmetall canons, various small arms ranging from:9 mm. pistol to 7,62 mm. general purpose machine gun, 1 SA-365 Dauphin II helicopter.

In the summer of 1986 L.É. EITHNE scored a notable first, by becoming the first Irish Naval Ship to cross the Atlantic, when she sailed to the United States, visiting Hamilton, New York and Boston.

19 December 1983 launched as LÉ EITHNE
07 December 1983 commissioned.

2019 In service.
