JOHN F KENNEDY ferry 1965

The British Royal Mail issued a sheet of Hello Stamps for the World Stamp Show in New York from 28 May until 4 June 2016. One of the labels shows us a Staten Island Ferry, which is one of the John F. Kennedy class of which three have been built in 1965.
Only the JOHN F KENNEDY is in service, the other two are retired, she is I believe, the one shown.
Built as a ferry under yard no 647 by Levingston Shipbuilding Co., Orange, Texas for the New York City, D.O.T., Staten Island Ferry.
16 May 1964 launched as the JOHN F. KENNEDY two sisters the AMERICAN LEGION and GOVERNOR HERBERT H. LEHMAN.
Tonnage 2,109 grt, 1,434 net, dim. 84.4 x 21.03 x 6.27m, length bpp. 81.76m.
Powered, diesel electric by four GM-EMD 567C16 engines, 6,500 shp. Speed 16 knots.
Passenger’s capacity 3,500 and 40 cars.
14 May 1965 completed.

Used in the 8km long ferry service between Manhattan to Staten Island in New York.
