Valentin Petrovich Drozd (Belorussian Valantsin Pyatrovich Drozd, 3 (16) September 1906 - January 29, 1943) - Soviet military commander, Vice Admiral (1941).

Biography
He was born in 1906 in the city of Buda-Kosheliovo, Mogilev province.
Member of the Civil War in Spain.
In 1938-1940 he commanded the Northern Fleet of the USSR.
Since 1940 - head of the Black Sea Higher Naval School.
At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War he served as commander of a light force squad, later a squadron of ships of the Baltic Fleet. In 1941, he directed the combat operations of ships in the Irben Strait, the defense of Moosund. At the end of August 1941, he led a detachment of main forces during the evacuation of the Baltic Fleet from Tallinn to Kronstadt, 112 warships, 23 transport and auxiliary vessels arrived at the destination. The Baltic Fleet squadron from Tallinn to Kronstadt withdrew. Participant evacuation from the peninsula of Hanko and the defense of Leningrad.
On January 29, 1943, Vice-Admiral Drozd was killed during artillery fire on an ice track near Kronstadt, his car collapsed under ice, and the admiral drowned. Buried in the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in St. Petersburg.

Memory
Even during the war, his name was the destroyer of Project 7U. After the war his name was worn by a large antisubmarine ship.
