SHIP STAMP SOCIETY

SHIP STAMP SOCIETY

Interested in Ships and Stamps? The Ship Stamp Society is an international society and publishes it’s journal, Log Book, six time a year.

The editor of Log book will retire this coming August and, unless a new one comes forward, the society will close.
With this in mind, we are not taking in any new members.
This is an unfortunate situation but seemingly unavoidable.

This stamp shows a warship which is not identified during the “Great Siege of Gibraltar from 1775-1783”.

It was a very long blockade of Gibraltar by Spanish and French forces during the American War of Independence 1775-1783, when Spain and France besieged it for more than three years 1779-1783.
In September 1782 the British forces destroyed the floating batteries of the enemy outside the harbour.
