CARNIVAL VICTORY is the third of the four Destiny-class cruise ships. Like all members of the Destiny class other than the lead ship, which was refitted and renamed CARNIVAL SUNSHINE in 2013, she is a modified version of that lead ship, and is therefore sometimes referred to as a Triumph-class cruise ship, in an allusion to the second member of the Destiny class, CARNIVAL TRIUMPH. Along with CARNIVAL SUNSHINE and CARNIVAL TRIUMPH, CARNIVAL VICTORY is operated by Carnival Cruise Line.

CARNIVAL VICTORY maiden voyage is a two-night cruise to nowhere departing Aug. 18, to be followed by three two-night cruises, one overnight voyage and various travel-agent and fundraising events. CARNIVAL VICTORY begins a series of four- and five-day New York/Canada cruises on Aug. 31.

15 October 2000 she sailed from New York for her inaugural cruise.

CARNIVAL VICTORY operates a year-round schedule of seven-day southern Caribbean cruises from San Juan, Miami. On its San Juan-based route, CARNIVAL VICTORY visits five of the Caribbean’s most beautiful destinations: St. Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua and St. Kitts.

In late 2007, CARNIVAL VICTORY underwent a refit which included the modification of some of her passenger areas.
CARNIVAL VICTORY underwent a further refurbishment in 2015. In January 2018, some of the ship's public areas were again modified during a refit.
On October 16, 2018, Carnival Cruise Line announced that CARNIVAL VICTORY will enter dry-dock on March 18, 2020 in Cadiz, Spain. It is planned to leave dry-dock on April 26, 2020 after receiving a $200 million refurbishment and will be renamed the CARNIVAL RADIANCE,
