Built as a destroyer by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering at Okpo for the South Korea Navy.
22 May 2002 launched as the CHUNGMUGONG YI SUN-SIN (DDH-975) she was named after Statute of Yi Sun-sin (1545–1598), a Korean naval commander in the Joseon Dynasty, his statute is also depict on the stamp.
Displacement 4,800 ton standard, 5,000 ton full load, dim. 150 x 17m
Powered CODOG combined diesel or gas, two LM 2500 gas turbines and two MTU diesel engines, 64,960 shp. Two controllable pitch propellers, speed 30 knots.
Range by a speed of 18 knots, 4,000 mile.
The destroyer is armed with RIM-116 RAM anti-aircraft missiles and Harpoon anti-ship cruise missiles. A single 32-cell MK 41 vertical launch system (VLS) onboard can fire SM-2 Block IIIB surface-to-air missiles (SAM).
The main gun fitted forward is a 127mm Mk 45 Mod 4 cannon. It has a rate of fire of 16 to 20 rounds a minute and a maximum range of 24km. The close-in air defence is provided by a 30mm Goalkeeper close-in weapon system (CIWS).
Chungmugong Yi Sunshin Class is fitted with two triple 324mm anti-submarine torpedo tubes and vertical launchers for firing torpedoes and anti-submarine rockets (ASROC).
Can carry two Super Lynx helicopters.

ROKS CHUNGMUGONG YI SUN-SIN (DDH-975) is a Chungmugong Yi Sun-sin-class destroyer in the Republic of Korea Navy. She is named after the Korean commander Yi Sun-sin.

Design
CHUNGMUGONG YI SUN-SIN was part of the first batch of Chungmugong Yi Sun-sin-class destroyers that were delivered to the Republic of Korea Navy. She was built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and was launched on 22 May 2002, entering service on 2 December 2003. She is about 150 metres (490 ft) long, 17 metres (56 ft) wide and displaces between 4,800 and 5,000 tons. Her propulsion unit is a CODOG unit, capable of propelling her at speeds of up to 30 knots (35 mph). She has a crew complement of 200. Her armament consists of a 32-cell VLS (with space to install a 64-cell system), a Mk 45 gun, a RAM missile, a Goalkeeper CIWS and eight Harpoon anti-ship missiles. Other systems include an AN/SPS-49 radar, an MW08 radar, and a DSQ-23 sonar.
