IVAN KRUZENSHTERN icebreaker

Built as an icebreaker under yard 768 by Admiralty shipyard in Leningrad for the Soviet Government.
20 January 1964 laid down.
29 April 1964 launched as the LEDOKOL-6 (Icebreaker-6)
Tonnage 2306 gross, 694 net,1,075 dwt, displacement 3,147 ton, dim. 67.70 x 18.28 x 8.32m, draught 6.05m.
Powered diesel electric by 3 diesels driving 3 generators connected to electric motors geared to three shafts, one forward two aft. Speed 14 knots. Russian ship registry gives that her engines were replaced by three 6L 26 diesels each 1500 hp, and her propulsion motors two of 1766 hp and one of 1175 hp. Three fixed pitched propeller with four detachable blades.
One cargo hold 244 ton and two derricks of 1.5 ton.
27 October 1964 completed.

1966 renamed in IVAN KRUZENSHTERN.

The icebreaker is the sixth in a series of 14 ships of Project 97A.. Originally managed by the Baltic Shipping Company.
The icebreaker visited all the seas on the globe. In winter ice she paved the way for cargo ships, and in the summer it’s engaged in towing ships.
2019 In service owned by the Russian Federation. IMO No 6501496.
