Built as a cruise passenger vessel under yard No 676 by Jos. L. Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany for the Celebrity Equinox Inc. Valletta, Malta.
06 August 2008 laid down.
06 June 2009 launched as the CELEBRITY EQUENOX.
Tonnage 121,878 gt, 82,363 nrt, 9,500 dwt, dim. 317.20 x 36.90 x 8.30m. (draught)
Powered, diesel electric by four Wärtsilä 16V46 diesel engines, 67,200 kW, driven two ABB Azipod units, speed maximum 24 knots.
Accommodation for 2850 passengers and around 1250 crew.
16 July 2009 completed.
17 July 2009 delivered to owners. Homeport Valletta, IMO No 9372456.

The CELEBRITY EQUINOX was named by Nina Barough, founder of breast cancer charity "Walk the Walk", which hosts four annual marathon walks in London, Edinburgh, Bristol and Newcastle
CELEBRITY EQUINOX is a Solstice-class cruise ship built by Meyer Werft in Germany. CELEBRITY EQUINOX is the second of the five Solstice-class vessels, owned and operated by CELEBRITY Cruises. She is a sister ship of CELEBRITY SOLSTICE, CELEBRITY ECLIPSE, CELEBRITY SILHOUETTE, and the CELEBRITY REFLECTION. CELEBRITY EQUINOX entered commercial service for CELEBRITY Cruises on July 31, 2009.

The vessel includes a theater and a lawn made up of real grass between the ships funnels where croquet can be played.

CELEBRITY EQUINOX was refitted in May 2019.

As of August 2019, the CELEBRITY EQUINOX sails to the Caribbean year-round from its homeport at Port Everglades.
