In 1949 the Allied Occupation Forces of Germany in the British and American Zones issued stamps which show us a portrait of Hermann Hillebrandt Wedigh, a world map and a drawing of a Hanse-kogge, Stanley Gibbons gives a “galleon” and comparing with drawings of both ships, it looks more a “galleon” than a Hansa Kogge.
Wedigh, Herrmann Hillebrandt: ... The Wedigh were Cologne merchants and from a patriciate family, which had already become known in English commerce in the 15th century. Hermann Hillebrandt Wedigh, together with a family member in the Stalhof https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steelyard , the branch of the German Hanseatic League in London, represented the trade of the Cologne parent company. According to the inscription on the portrait, he should have been born in 1494. The original painting is in the Gemäldegalerie of the state museums of Prussian cultural heritage in Berlin. The signet ring on the index finger of the left hand clearly shows that of Wedigh's coat of arms. The design was probably based on the painting of Holbein, but the Hansekogge and world map were added.
