DAPHNE CLASS SUBMARINES PAKISTAN.

The stamp shows us one of the Daphne class of submarines of the Pakistan Navy. Three submarines were built for Pakistan account on yards in France, and one was bought from the Portuguese Navy.

PNS HANGOR (S-131): Laid down 01 December 1967 by the Naval Arsenal Brest.
30 June 1969 launched.
12 January 1970 completed.
She torpedoed and sank the Indian Navy frigate KHUKRI on 09 December 1971.
02 January 2006 decommissioned and now placed in Pakistan Maritime Museum.

PNS SHUSHUK (S-132): Laid down 01 December 1967 by C.N. Ciotat, Le Trait, France.
30 July 1969 launched.
12 January 1970 commissioned.
02 January 2006 decommissioned.

PNS MANGRO (S-133) laid down 08 July 1968 by C.N. Ciotat, Le Trait, France.
07 February 1970 launched.
08 August 1970 commissioned.
02 January 2006 decommissioned. After her decommissioning, MANGRO beached at the Gadani ship-breaking yard and sold for scrap metal in 2006.

PNS GHAZI (S-134): Laid down 12 May 1967 by A.C. Dubigeon, Normandie in Portugal.
23 September 1968 launched as NRP CACHALOTE (S-185) one of the Albacora class of the Portuguese Navy.
01 October 1969 commissioned.
December 1975 sold to the Pakistan Navy and renamed PNS GHAZI (S-134)
02 January 2006 decommissioned and scrapped by National Shipping Corporation in Pakistan.

Daphine class details:
Displacement 869 ton surfaced, 1,043 ton submerged, dim. 59.00 x 6.80 x 4.60m (draught).
Powered diesel electric by two SEMT-Pielstick diesels 2,600 bhp, two electromotor 1,600 shp, twin shafts, speed 13.5 knots, snorkeling 16 knots.
Armed 12 – 21 inch torpedo tubes.
Crew 45.
