MAERSK PEARY tanker

Built as a double-hulled tanker under yard No 1130 by STX Offshore & Shipbuilding at Jinhae-gu, South Korea for Marina Invest S.A. Switzerland.
21 July 2004 laid down.
25 September 2004 launched as the JUTUL one sister.
06 October 2004 christened.
Tonnage 25,487 grt, 9,528 nrt, 38,177 dwt. Dim. 180 x 32 x 10.27m. (draught), length bpp171.2m.
Powered by a Hyundai MAN B&W 7S50MC-C diesel engine, 15,000 hp., one shaft, speed 15 knots.
Crew 21
26 November 2004 completed, under Norwegian flag and registry. IMO No 9278492.

2011 Was she bought by the Maersk Line and registered in the USA on 19 September 2011 renamed 30 September 2011 in MAERSK PEARY under American flag and registry, homeport Norfolk.
She was chartered long term by the USA Military Sealift Command (MSC) and will support the Arctic and Antarctic polar basis.

In October 2011 she left for McMurdo Station where she arrived in January 2012. In the next Northerly summer she will supply the Thule Air Force Base.
The MAERSK PEARY is a tanker, operated by the shipping firm Maersk Line that was designed for working in the Polar Regions.

History
She was built in 2004 by STX Offshore & Shipbuilding Jinhae-gu, South Korea, originally with a red hull and registered in Norway as the MT JUTUL In 2011, Maersk won a long-term contract to supply Thule AFB, in Greenland and McMurdo Station, in Antarctica, and the MAERSK PEARY was reflagged as an American vessel and painted blue, sailing with an American crew. The vessel was then leased to the Military Sealift Command
