Built as a destroyer ("large anti-submarine ship") by Baltic shipyard Yantar in Kaliningrad for the Soviet Navy.
24 May 1987 laid down.
1988 Launched as the ADMIRAL PANTELEYEV (548).
Displacement 6840 ton standard, 7480 ton full load, dim 163 x 19 x 7.8m. (draught).
Powered: GOGAC 2 gas turbines + 4 gas turbines, 120.000 hp (80.000 kW), twin shafts, speed 29.5 knots maximum, 14 knots economic.
Range economic 6882 miles.
Armament: 2 – 4 SS-N-14 anti-submarine missiles, 8 – vertical launchers for SA-N-9 surface-to-air missiles, 2 – 1 100mm gun, 4 – AK-630, 2 – 4 553mm torpedo tubes type 53 ASW/ASuW torpedo, 2 – RUB-6000 anti-submarine rocket launchers.
Carried 2 – Ka-27 Helix series helicopters.
Crew 293.
01 May 1992 commissioned.

She was the last Soviet warship built, at the end of the trials the USSR naval flag was hoisted on the ship, which was replaced by the St Andrew flag after 8 days.
Admiral Panteleyev is an Udaloy-class destroyer ("large anti-submarine ship") of the Russian Navy. She is named after Yuri Aleksandrovich Panteleyev.
History
She passed through the Suez Canal and arrived on 28 December 1992 in Vladivostok.
October 2008 took part in the joint exercises on search and rescue on ships in distress, on communications and maneuvering in Japan and a little later she participated in the international naval parade in Busan on the occasion of the 60the anniversary of the founding of South Korea.
She is a part of the Russian Pacific Ocean Fleet; she was deployed in 2009 as part of operations to combat piracy off the Somali coast. The ship also participated in RIMPAC 2012.
28 April 2009 she detained a ship with 29 pirates and weapons 15 miles east of Somalia.
In 2013 she was the flagship of a squadron of Russian Naval ships in the Mediterranean
28 October 2014 she took part in a joint Russian-Japanese exercise in Peter the Great Bay.
From 01 October 2018, she made a long voyage as part of the Pacific fleet in which she visited nine countries in Asia. 24 January 2019 she arrived back in her homeport Vladivostok.
