Race-boat on the Sanaga at Edea

Post by Anatol » Fri Apr 10, 2020 5:51 pm

In 1965, the Cameroun Post issued a stamp dedicated to folklore tourism. In many Asian countries (India, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand), folklore festivals are held every year in honor of the holidays, attracting many tourists. The top of the holiday is the race of long boats, which are called "Dragons", "Snakes" and others. Usually the race is held in June or July, the crowds that they attract are huge. Massive boats dividing the water into parts when ancient boat songs are hummed create an exciting experience. This is an event that causes the frenzy of boat racing, which captures the state over the next few months. The Cameroun stamp depicts a racing boat on the Sanaga River near the town of Edee - this is a photograph of Dennis Naumik. I found very little information about this boat and about the races on the river Sanaga. If anyone has any further information, we would be pleased to hear from you.
