KOOS VAN MESSEL rescue boat

The rescue boat from the Dutch KNRM depict on this stamp is the KOOS VAN MESSEL, and is one of the Arie Visser class of which 10 boats have been built.

The KOOS VAN MESSEL with an aluminum hull was built by Aluboot in Hindelopen, Netherland, where most of this class has been built.
Weight 28 ton, dim. 18.80 x 6.10 x 1.03m.
Powered by two 1,000 hp engines, speed 35 knots.
Capacity for 120 survivors.
Crew 6.
04 December 2003 delivered to the KNRM, stationed in IJmuiden.

The lifeboat KOOS VAN MESSEL was christened on Saturday 12 April 2003 by Mr. and Mrs. Van der Laan, executor of Mrs. van Messel. The KNRM was able to build the lifeboat KOOS VAN MESSEL through the estate of Mrs. S. van Messel-Boerema. The boat is named after her late husband of Mrs. van Messel, Koos van Messel. The lifeboat is stationed at IJmuiden rescue station
