They are found along the south and west coast mostly used for fishing and ferrying.
The Chinese sampan of the Singapore area has sharp ends. Crudely built and finished.
Ribs in three pieces. Outboard rudder; tiller.
Sometimes a light mast stepped in the forward quarter, which carried a battened lugsail.
Crew 1 or 2.
Lengths 4.6 to 7.6 meter.
