SAGAR SAMRAT jack-up rig

Built as an offshore jack-up rig by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., Hiroshima, Japan for the Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).
01 January 1971 laid down
Tonnage 6,821 gross, 2,045 net. Dim. 77.42 x 39.6 x 6.7m.
Used up to a water depth of 76.20 m, with a drilling depth of 5,486.4m.
Crew 72.
01 March 1973 completed under the name SAGAR SAMRAT.
Imo No 8754750. Homeport Mumbai, India.

She was India’s first drilling rig. When she was decommissioned in 2005 she had drilled 131 wells off the coast of India.
The intention was to convert her in a mobile offshore production unit by Gulf Piping Co, in Abu Dhabi, but she is now out of register and laid up in 2020.
