CLEVELAND HMY 1671

The stamp design of the yacht is from a painting made by van de Velde the Younger.

The Royal Yacht Cleveland was built by Master Shipwright Sir Anthony Deane at the Portsmouth Dockyard at Portsmouth.
1671 Launched as Cleveland, named after the Duchess of Cleveland, one of the mistresses of King Charles II of England.
Tonnage 107 ton (bm), dim. 53.4 ft length of keel, beam 19.4, depth 7.6ft.
Armament: 8 – 6pdrs.
Crew 30 maximum.
03 July 1671 commissioned under command of Capt. William Fazeby.

After various other commands, her last commander was when she was paid off on 16 January 1716 Capt. Richard Byron.
Later that year she was sold.
Fate unknown.
