18th CENTURY MERCHANTMAN SURRENDERING TO PIRATE SCHOONER

Post by aukepalmhof » Thu Nov 05, 2020 8:25 pm

The stamp issued by Jamaica in 1971, the 30c is designed after a painting made by Clarkson Frederick Stanfield (1793-1867) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarkson_ ... _Stanfield
The stamps show us an “18th-century merchantman attacked by a pirate ship”.
Could not find a description of the painting
