Stanley Gibbons ships on stamps give that a Canadian canoe is depicted of which the book from Aak to Zumbra gives.
This canoe was developed in the mid-19th century on the Rice Lake in southern Ontario Province to meet the needs of duck hunters, although it became primarily a pleasure craft. Might be rib-and batten-built or smooth inside and outside. Sharp lined; broad flat floors; a quick turn of the bilges; slight tumble home to topsides. Bow and stern decks. Generally paddled with a single or double-bladed paddle, but could be sailed, at which time leeboards were employed.
Length typically 4.9m, width 0.76m depth 0.3m.
