Post by aukepalmhof » Sun Feb 28, 2021 6:42 pm

For the 50th anniversary of the Tsakos Industria Navales S.A. in Uruguay, the Uruguayan post issued a miniature sheet of $2.70, which shows the Tsakos dry-dock in Montevideo within the dock a vessel and along the dock a few other vessels, in the margin of the MS is also a vessel depicts. I have not any information on the depicted vessels so information and details are welcome.

By the MS is given:
The origins of the Tsakos Group go back beyond almost half a century of continuous activity and growth.
Its roots lie in the heart of the marine tradition of Greece, on the island of Chios located in the Aegean archipelago.
Captain Panagiotis Tsakos, the founder of the group, together with the encouragement and support of colleagues and the active involvement of his sons Nikolas and María, turned the then small company into the current and diverse economic group.
In the following years, the Group established several subsidiaries and associated companies around the world and thus led its entry into the 21st century.
In addition to shipping, its main activity, the Group has diversified into other investment areas, from shipbuilding and repair to oil exploration, through investment in real estate, agriculture, forestry, and renewable energy. He has also been active in cultural, educational, philanthropic and charitable projects.
The Tsakos Group is represented in Uruguay by Tsakos Industrias Navales SA (TINSA), a shipyard dedicated mainly to naval repairs. Account for this with a Floating Dock located within the Port of Montevideo. The history of our company begins at the beginning of the 20th century when two partners created an industrial establishment called Fundición del Norte. Later on, they decide that their surnames and profession appear in the shipyard's trade name: Regusci & Voulminot Ingenieros. In 1926, they installed the first floating dock in the Port of Montevideo, located in the same area in which, until our intermediate relocation to the Florida area, we developed our work. In 1975, with the purchase of the share package of Regusci and Voulminot by Captain Panagiotis Tsakos, Tsakos Industrias Navales was born.

Within this tradition and concept of Greek universality, the idea arose to install the “María Tsakos” Foundation in Montevideo in 1978. Its main mission is to spread the Greek language as well as the different expressions of ancient and modern Greek culture. and contemporary; teaching dance, singing, music, literature, philosophy, cooking, mythology, and art history classes
