PIROGUE on B.I.O.T. 1969

Post by aukepalmhof » Mon Apr 12, 2021 8:22 pm

Pirogue: The pirogue is the typical workboat on the islands and a direct descendant of the canoe, as the name suggests, although today it is a carvel structure and is propelled by oars or an outboard motor. Pirogues are built in various sizes, from small fishing boats to cargo boats that can load 20 tons of copra and are rowed by 10 men. The boats are all tarred with pitch.
