LE BÉARN fishing trawler 1947

St Pierre et Miquelon issued in 2021 a stamp of 1.55 Euro which shows us the side-trawler BÉARN.
She was built as a steel screw fishing trawler under yard No 200 by John Lewis & Sons Ltd., at Aberdeen for Assoc. Rochelaise de Peche a Vapeur – F. Menu, La Rochelle, France.
23 November 1946 launched as the BÉARN.
Tonnage 265 grt, 73 nrt, dim. 39.59 x 7.52 x 3.54m.
Powered by one 3-cyl. triple expansion steam engine hp?.
March 1947 completed.

1954 Sold to Soc. de Peche et de Congelation de St Pierre et Miquelon, St Pierre, not renamed.
1955 A new engine fitted in a 2SA 6-cyl. diesel engine manufactured by Henschel Maschinebau, Hamburg. Hp?
1956 Sold to Bizien & Varron, Lorient, renamed in BIZ-VAR.
19 March 1962 when in ballast she sank after a fire on board off Achill, Irish Republic. The crew were rescued.
