Built in Japan in 1982 and as aid given to Tuvalu.
She was a pole-and-line fishing vessel and managed by the National Fishing Company (NAFICOT) of Tuvalu .
Tonnage 208dwt, length 39 meter.

After delivery she produced reasonable catches during the 1980s in the waters off Tuvalu, with a peak catch in 1988 of 1.091 ton.
But due to local poor supply of baitfish, she was frequently out of work, or had to fish in Fiji or Solomon Islands waters under a licensing agreement.

Later between 1991 – 1993 was she chartered to the South Pacific Commission for regional tuna tagging work.
1993 She sank in the Funafuti lagoon, Tuvalu.

More info on her details and the reason why did she sink in the Funafuti lagoon is required, who can help.

http://home.spc.int/coastfish/Sections/ ... Tuvalu.pdf gives that F/V Te Tautai sat idle until it was transferred to the Marine Department (Ministry of Works and Communication) in September 1993. The vessel was then used for inter-island transport cruises for several years until it sank at its mooring in the Funafuti lagoon in 1996.
