Built as a container vessel under yard No 255 by Hyundai Heavy Industries, Ulsan, South Korea for Furness Withy Co. Ltd., U.K.
16 November 1983 launched under the name ANDES.
Tonnage 32.150gross, 18.016 net, 37.042 dwt., dim. 202.55 x 32.29 x 18.8m., bpp. 190.8m, draught 12.02m.
Powered by one 5-cyl B&W oil engine, 19.300 bhp., speed 18.5 knots. One screw. Fitted out with a bow thruster.
Container capacity 2.145 TEU’s.
One portal crane of 40 tons, for loading and discharging containers in ports not fitted out with gantry cranes on shore.
Hold no 1 is special for dangerous cargos.
Registry port Liverpool.
1984 delivered to owners.

She was used in the container service from West Europe to the west coast of South America the so-called Eurosal liner service. The former Pacific Steam Navigation Comp. service.
1994 Transferred to Hong Kong registry, and renamed CGM MAGELLAN, later transferred to the Cayman Islands registry. Owner given as Andes Shipping Ltd., Cayman Islands.

1997 Sold to the Ofer Brothers in Israel, renamed in CAP BLANCO. Registered owner Dot Shipping, and managed by Ofer Ships Holding, Haifa, Israel. Registered in Valetta, Malta.
IMO No. 8220345.
She is still sailing between West Europe and the west coast of South America.
2009 As given by http://www.equasis.org still sailing under same name and owned and managed by same owners.

The paddle steamer depict on the stamp is the CHILE or PERU the first vessels of the Pacific Steam navigation Comp.

23 February 2009 CAP BLANCO arrived Alang, India and was beached 28 February 2009 for scrapping.
